Ok, did that and it disn't work... Still no contact.

Redownloaded the rescue system and verified it against the sha256 hash, formatted a new stick and moved the rescue system there.

Reinstalled on my spare hdd, wiping everything, format and partition.

Same state as before, can not reach b3 at all.

Ok, I dug out an old spare harddrive and connected the b3 to it, made a complete reinstallation with format and partition.
b3 starts up and light turns blue.
And:
nothing. Nothing at all. b3 doesn't get an IP and if I plug a client into the LAN port it doesn't even notice there is a connection.
So ...

...boot the rescue system and put a hashtag in front of /dev/mapper/bubba-storage in fstab on /dev/sda1. Maybe also recreate swap on /dev/sda3. There may be an issue with mount-all and that would most definitely keep the system from starting the basic required services network and sshd.

It does hovever get one if I plug in a rescue system usb stick (http://wiki.excito.org/wiki/index.php/Rescue_System) and reboot into that.

As so often I figure it out just after posting a question...
For some reason I had changed the permission on /home/user to 777. Changing it back to 755 solved the issue. now authorized_keys are working again.

I can no longer login to my b3 without password using authorize_keys.
It did work up 'til yesterday when I added another machine with ssh-copy-id user@b3server. Now no machine can connect without being promted with a password.
I tried deleting the key copied from the new machine, checked rights on ...

Still no printer with an upgrade to 2.5.0.1...
