@flimflam: You can replace firmware with debian or arch. Consider that it has only 256MB ram and noisy fan (which can be detached or controlled from command line).

BTW: I like B3's GUI but i expect more.

Hi! After 2 years I'm using excito NAS again. My old B1 worked for 5 years and i was replaced by Zyxel NSA310. Now i gave a chance to B3 and i am little dissapointed.

On NSA310/320 i can get ~60-70MB/s read and ~40-50MB/s write speed (nastester) (Seagate 160GB/WD Blue 500GB /WD Red 3TB)
On Zyxel ...

My Bubba server died yesterday. Suddenly. It was running 24/7 for last 3,5 year.

Symphoms: Led is blinking. 3,5'' hard drive fails to spin-up (2,5'' drive start properly).

Solution: Replace PSU

Bubba has no moving parts, so noises come from hdd.
If you are not afraid of losing warranty , can try connect with serial cable and see what's wrong

I'm running 'raw' Lenny for 8 months with 2 or 3 reboots (it never crashed). My current uptime is 169 days, so i think this images may be considered as stable.

Anton Vorontsov has tested MPC8315 board (CPU at 400MHz, CSB at 133 MHz) and measured throughput 142 Mb/s of TCP and 354 Mb/s of UDP. But Anton submited patch which can give +21Mb/s..

When netserver is running on the MPC8315, TCP throughput increases to ~300Mb/s

I think you have encoding mismatched.. ie Your terminal is set to Iso-hungarian and bubba is set to UTF-8 ( i think) .. or oposite. Another option is wrong font set on your console.. I had similar problem with polish encoding and i managed to fix it.

Please, check this settings on gnome terminal ...

To resolve FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.16.16/modules.dep: No such file or directory error just apt-get install linux-modules

You can also add 'subtree_check' or 'no_subtree_check' to your /etc/exports to remove that warning
