Controlling torrents from the command line

As being discussed in another thread, I can no longer control my downloads from the web interface. This means, for example, that I have been seeding some torrents for weeks now, without being able to remove them.

This is a problem for me, as my own transfer speed to the Bubba is quite low now. I not know how fast I am seeding, as ifconfig at the moment incorrectly states that I have transmitted 3.9 GB (a few minutes ago it said 3.6 GB). It must be more, since I can see on an Internet site that I have seeded more than 60 GB for three of my torrents (probably not even the most popular ones), only since I restarted FTD a few days ago.

Two questions:

1. Is there a problem, for example with overheating the CPU or wearing out my hard drive, that my Bubba seems to be operating at 100% capacity almost constantly, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?
2. Adding new torrents to the torrents directory is not that hard, but can I in some other way (probably using SSH) control the downloads without using the web interface?
