Boot

Post by StefanPeeters »

Hi,

I just bought the B3 exito. When I start the device I get a red blinking light. It seems like it wouldn't boot. Is this normal? Or does it has a hardware failure?

Enyone who can help me with this?

Thank you

Did you install a disk, following the instructions in the box?

Hi,

Thank you for your swift reply. The fast start manual says:
Connect the power supply , first to a wall outlet;
After about 1 minute when the LED on B3's front is blue B3 is powered up;
Start an internet browser on your computer and type B3 in the address field. If you are using Mac or Linux Type b3local instead;
A dialog box where you are prompted for password will pop up. Log in using the password admin.
Follow the Setup Wizard. It is recommended to create a user for every person who will use B3;
Please write down your new admin password on a paper and keep it in a secure place;
Your B3 is now ready to use!

I've connected te power suply to a wall outlet.
The led didn't turned blue (waiting for 6 houres now). It still blinking red.
I've tried to browse to the b3 with windows.This didn't work. I tried to browse with a Mac.This didn't work also.

Now I don't know where you bought it, but we recently had a campaign on iBood where it was sold without a disk. In those boxes there is a white paper explaining how to install the disk drive, this has to be done before trying to start the box.

Please confirm that you have a disk drive inside your B3.

Hi,

Yes I bought it at Ibood. There is no diskdrive inside. Do I have to bye it separately or does Ibood have to send it to me? I only received a quick install guide but no white paper on how to install a disk drive.

Thank you

The way I read it the ibood offer was without harddrive, so yes you will have to supply your own. If you don't have the white paper, then I'm fairly certain Excito will be happy to send it to you. Just drop an email to support at excito dot com.

Basically what you need is a low rev disk (5400RPM or lower) or SSD. This is because higher rev disks won't survive the heat buildup they produce inside the fanless enclosure. Approved disks are WD Green, WD Red and Seagate Green, all up to 3TB. Installing the Operating System is explained in this wiki.

Note: If you select a WD Green drive you should definitely check out the following thread on this forum:

The instruction sheet for installing a disk drive can also be downloaded here:

Sorry that it was not in your box, it should have been. Good luck!
