Hi,
I want to use my B3 like a wireless device connected to my home WiFi network ( two Windows 7 laptops will access and do backup on the B3).
I followed the wiki on Connect_your_B3_as_a_wireless_device_to_an_access_point
And now:
- B3 is reported like connected under the Fritz!Box WLAN router connected devices with “-“ name.
- Under WindowsExplorer /Network/Media Devices, B3 is shown like “Excito B3 DLNA Server”.
- I cannot access the B3 with \\b3 in WindowsExplorer or via the web interface
- I can access the B3 via ssh (using the IP address reported by the WLAN router)
Might be useful to mention that even with the factory configuration, B3 was shown only like “Excito B3 DLNA Server” under WindowsExplorer/Network, i.e. “B3” network device hasn’t shown (as mentioned in the quick start document – anyway, I could access it like \\b3 and map it to a network drive)
Could somebody help with the missing setting?
Thank you in advance!

Connecting B3 as a WiFi Device to an access point

So it seems everything works as you would like it to work. Good job!ionel wrote:, I could access it like \\b3 and map it to a network drive)
Re: Connecting B3 as a WiFi Device to an access point
Let me try to clarify:
1) With the factory settings, just out-of-the-box, B3 does not show up in WindowsExplorer/Network as a device. It is shown like " like “Excito B3 DLNA Server” Anyhow, I can access it with \\b3 . This might indicate some minor setup problem
2) When B3 is set as a WiFi device (as stated in the WiKi article), B3 shows up WindowsExplorer/Network the same like 1), but I CANNOT access it with \\b3
The question is how to access the B3 via WindowsExplorer in case 2). Thanks!

Quite possible not thoughUbi wrote:So it seems everything works as you would like it to work. Good job!ionel wrote:, I could access it like \\b3 and map it to a network drive)

Because the objective in this case is not to access the B3 by wire but air. And the problem that the active DHCP instance does not register the name of the B3 in the attached dynamic DNS service. Which is a thing that sometimes happens but is of course an issue that is not so much client related (i.e. the B3) but server related (i.e. the WiFi router). TS should investigate how he can make the router register the name, which will most likely come down to assigning a static lease to the B3 and a manual addition to the internal DNS server of the router.
