Is it possible to remove the hard drive and run B3 normally?
I have another external server and don't really need the disk in there as it makes the B3 very hot (around 50C) and it is stored in a place with limited air getting inside.

Re: Running B3 without hard drive
Only if you replace the hard drive with an SSD. Otherwise, you'll just have a brick.

You could use a USB stick. I'm sure there is a topic about this somewhere on the site.

Any guide on installing an SSD?
The use manual only states how to replace a normal SATA drive.

I'd say it was the same. I've never done it myself but installing a new HDD is simple enough.
Re: Running B3 without hard drive
you are right the guide does not show this, but it's easy. Don't use any of the stuff you need for installing your 3.5" drive, just plug the 2.5" in place, and use one small M3 screw (usually comes four with the 2.5" drives) and screw that through the main board to fasten one end of the drive.
