I attached an USB HP-LJ1010 printer to the b3.
b3 and a Windows machine belong to the same WORKGROUP within the LAN.
The Windows machine is not able to "see" the printer attached to the b3. Why is that so? What should I do to make printing possible from the Windows machine?
My other Ubuntu machine is able to use the printer as a network printer. - Without problem.
Cheers,
P

Re: HP Printer not visible from Windows machine
Maybe you could explain what you actually tried. "It's unable to see it" isn't exactly descriptive.
Re: HP Printer not visible from Windows machine
"unable to see" means: the Windows machine cannot connect to the printer. The printer is not shown as a network resource.

Re: HP Printer not visible from Windows machine
Are you deliberately being obtuse? Where is it not showing as a network resource? What have you done to resolve it? Have you tried to manually install the printer? Even some basic information like what version of Windows you're using would be helpful.
Would you go on a car forum saying "my car doesn't work" and expect people to be able to help you?
EDIT. And just to be clear, I do want to help. But so often people post questions with no details and people respond along the lines of "try doing X" and the OP replies "well obviously I've tried that". It's not obvious and it's annoying that I've wasted my time suggesting something that's already been tried.

Re: HP Printer not visible from Windows machine
Okay, got the point.
I attached some screenshots to clarify the situation.
The system is WindowsXP (SP3).
I tried to configure a new printer according to the printer setup dialogue but I failed.
The printer is addressed (from the Ubuntu system) like the following:
ipp://192.168.0.111:63/printers/hp-LaserJet-1010
This works on Ubuntu. Not on Windows. I am not able to get a connection to the printer attached to the b3 with the XP-System.
I hope this is a bit clearer.

SOLVED Re: HP Printer not visible from Windows machine
Problem solved - it was a firewall issue.
The WindowsXP firewall shut the necessary port down and prevented the system from being able to send printing requests to the b3.
Had nothing to do with any configuration of the b3.
Thanks,
P

Hi,
What port have you opened?
I have a simular printer, aHP1020
But no connection. Posted in another forum about it.

Re: [SOLVED] HP Printer not visible from Windows machine
I disabled the firewall - there's no need for that in my network at home.
Port needed for printing should be 9100.
