Wanted: Minimal diskspace for off-site backups of my emails

Post by Cheeseboy »

Hi all,

I recently tried to set up rsync backups of my home folder emails at work.
It doesn't work due to the network policies of my employer.

Is anyone willing to let me have ssh access (non-root) to their system and aprox. 200 MB of disk space for backing up my email? The favour would of course be returned in the same fashion.

Code: Select all

niklas@b3:~$ du -hcs /home/niklas/Mail
178M	/home/niklas/Mail
Cheers,

I could do you I 'spose. As an added bonus I'd backup your backups to my own offsite backup :S.

Will PM you the details now.

Darren.

lol, it was nearly two years ago now, not to worry. I've got my old B2 to utilise as a backup system now, just need to decide what to do with it.

Actually, You already have an account on my machine Rene. And I probably have one on yours, even though I cannot remember the username or password.

I hate that the forum only lets us keep 50 PMs....

I'm thinking there's an opportunity here for Excito to implement some kind of Wuala type distributed backup solution where people trade spare space.

So why don't you simply install wuala then? There is a linux client.

still looks promising though. Just that I don't really trust LaCie with my data despite all the promises. Remember how Dropbox also once promised that they could not read your files. Oops
