e-Sata?
e-Sata?
I tried connecting an e-Sata external disk to one of the e-Sata ports on my Bubba 2 but the admin GUI didn't seem to detect anything. So I tried the same disk using a USB connection and it worked fine. Do I need to do anything special to have the Bubba detect a disk via an e-Sata connection?
Re: e-Sata?
Hi,
esata disk do not appears in GUI, you need to mount it using a ssh console. (eg mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/esatad)

Re: e-Sata?
I know this is a basic Linux question, but is there an easy why to see which device my disk is assigned to? Or is sdb1 a linux standard?
Re: e-Sata?
I found my disks in syslog from bubba GUI settings or editing /var/log/messages file
Re: e-Sata?
Okay I tried this, but I see no sign that my disk was detected.
Strange.
Seem like the Bubba 2 is just not detecting the disk. It is possible the e-stat controller in my external disk is too old? Also the connector doesn't sit well in the bubba 2, it almost loose I would say.

Re: e-Sata?
Hi,
I made a mistake. the esata disk is visible in gui, sorry
Did you verify if in system.log you find 'sdb'?
If you do not find this string:
first try to shutdown bubba and power on again but do not power off the esata disk during this step.
If the disk does not appear probably you have some connection problem, take a look to this post http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php?f ... able#p4856

Re: e-Sata?
Ha! I knew it couldn't have been so complicated to connect an e-sata disk.
The cable was indeed the problem. Shaved a little of the plastic from the butt of the connector and the Bubba 2 now detects the disk, even in the GUI.
I was actually considering to buy a different cable to try, but at 15 euros a piece, I didn't.
I am glad I just shaved my existing one.
Thanks for the great suggestion!
