fetchmail bubba link

Post by tknab2 »

I was wondering why the bubba package is dependent on the fetchmail package.
For example, I have been having some problems with Fetchmail messing up my imap mail.
So, I have been thinking of doing a dpkg --purge fetchmail. But, I find the bubba package is dependant on fetchmail. Why is that ?

Hi tknab2,

The reason for the bubba package to depend on fetchmail is that its essential for Bubba operation. The web-admin relies on it being present. So to make our life easier the dependency makes sure that its there.

But if it interferes in your mail solution shouldn't it be enough to simply disable it? If you log in as admin chose services, uncheck " Mail retrieval" and press update and the fetchmail service should be disabled.

That is a good way to solve the problem.

Much better than unintalling bubba and fetchmail and then trying to restore the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file.

I am assuming that fetchmail is the Mail retrieval option then.
I turned that option off.

thanks....
