torrent downloads slow

Why is it that when i put a torrent in the download section of bubba2 it is very very slow (10 kb/s). If i download with nzb on pc it uses the full bandwith.
Do i have to tune something on B2?

(25/3) It's getting worse, below 1kb/s now ???

This is strange. I can think of two reasons:

1) You are sure you are using the same torrent as you test at your PC with?

2) You could be suffering from the network performance bug, now solved. (See http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php?t=1594). Try upgrading your system to see if it helps.

1) On my pc I don't use torrents, but download with with nzb files and grabit
2) I read about the upgrade this morning and I did the upgrade, although it didn't finish the first time because apache would't start anymore.
So I rebooted B2 and apache still would't start.
Appearantly some files in .../sites-available were added (in my case overwrite the existing (adjusted) bubba file.
Furthermore I had copied a application directory from /home/web to /home and renamed the one in /home/web.
After the boot the new dir in /home was gone and the one in /home/web was back to original?? I was under the impression that /home was left alone when doing upgrades?

The upgrade shouldn't change much in the /home directory, the only thing can be some permission changes here and there, but no removal of direcories should be able to take place.

Hi nitram,

Differences in download speeds of nzb and torrent are caused by the application mechanism.
- torrent is a data exchange between peers (other end-users like you).
- nzb is a download from a server of your usenet provider.

Thanks for your reply Rob.

I started using torrents since i've my B2, so i'm not familiar what to expect for transfer speed.
I'm currently downloading a torrent (~20 seeds and ~38peers) but speeds are not going above 10kb/s (sometimes it goes to 15 for a minute), is this the speed i can expect ?

Hi Martin,

General torrent remark:
Download speeds can vary from 0 to full bandwith. As such 10kB/s is not an odd value.
Please note that your actual download speed is the sum of the upload speeds of all of your individual peers at that moment.
Some peers reduce their max upload speed to 0 (or a very low value). Others don't care and upload with max bandwith.
You just have to be lucky, that's all

Bubba2 remark:
Torrent downloading by Bubba2 is always significantly slower than uTorrent (which I use on my PC).
Does anyone know which torrent download client is integrated in Bubba2?
