okay,

i am able to recieve mail now and retrieve it using evolution (linux mail client). i have added bubba.<mydomain>.com, mail.<mydomain>.com to my mx records with my dns. i have also added smtp.<mydomain>.com to my dns mx records.

now about sending mail...

under admin login -> Mail -> Send Mail -> Server i have tried both <mydomain>.com and smtp.<mydomain>.com and neither seems to be working for sending my mail using evolution.

should smtp. be prepended to <mydomain>.com here or in Sending Mail -> Server Configuration in evolution? i will check with my isp about port 25 (but it should be open on the isp end).

the manual does not specify these things.

please advise.

i just got off the phone with my isp and port 25 is NOT blocked.

i have changed the fields for admin -> login -> mail -> send mail -> server to be empty as the instruction manual says but i still cannot send mail from bubba.

what should the settings be in the email clients Sending Mail settings tab?

most of the time it is smtp.<mydomain>.com but that is being refused when i try it.

please advise.
