apache2 problems - cant access web interface

Post by scoobynz »

Hello,

I cannot access my bubba over the web interface – I have only noticed this today.

I can access the bubba over ssh and can also see the Bubba on the network. Items such as squeezecenter and mldonkey are still available over the web interface but the main interface page is inaccessible from both within and outside of my network.

I think this has something to do with apache2 – but apart from that I have no idea at all what the problem may be. I have tried updating the bubba-frontend and doing a full update but neither of these helped.

Please see attached my error log – I note that the log stops at 03-03-09, even though todays date is 10-03-09 and the server has been active over the last week. I think this is around the time I tried installing awstats which I think tinkers with apache. (I note that I have since deleted awstats).

I notice that from my running processes that apache2 is not actually running (ok, now I know it is something to do with apache2!!) I tried to restart the apache2 server and got the following;
mule@bubba:/etc$ /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

Forcing reload of web server (apache2)...no listening sockets available, shutting down

Unable to open logs

failed!

OK, I therefore think that the answer is to somehow start again with the apache2 – i.e. reset it to default configuration. The question is, how do I do this?

Excerpt of my error log below.

I found a similar problem in this post;
http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php? ... 7c5efb51e4

When I execute
find /etc/apache2 -type f -exec grep -l Listen {} \;
I get
bubba:/etc/apache2# find /etc/apache2 -type f -exec grep -l Listen {} \;
/etc/apache2/ports.conf
I think I should get;
bubba:/etc/apache2# find /etc/apache2 -type f -exec grep -l Listen {} \;
/etc/apache2/ports.conf
/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/bubba-orginal
/etc/apache2/sites-available/bubba
When I execute
bubba:/etc/apache2# find /etc/apache2 -type f -exec grep Listen {} \;
Listen 80
I think I should get;
bubba:/etc/apache2# find /etc/apache2 -type f -exec grep Listen {} \;
Listen 80
Listen 443
Listen 443
I also tried restarting the apache2 server from root;
bubba:/etc/apache2# /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

Forcing reload of web server (apache2)...httpd (no pid file) not running

no listening sockets available, shutting down

Unable to open logs

failed!

does this give anyone anymore info- any help would really be appreciated.

I have the same problem, Apache is not starting up at boot time -> no web admin page!

I get the same results as you on the find commands, only difference is that Apache gets started on a manual restart of Apache...

Any suggestions on what to do??

hmmm, tracked down the problem to my 'stopHDreads.sh' script that reads every 5s. The script is started at boot time and somehow interferes with the bubba-frontend.

Very odd...

Yes, still a problem. The only solution I can think of at the moment is a fresh install. . . . . .

that is a bit drastic.
You could try to reinstall the bubba package,
frontend and backend.
