GIT 1.6

Hello, im trying to install git from sources.
I get always curl-config command not found.

I've done apt-get install curl gcc

Any ideas about It?

This is far to little info to give you a sensible answer.

Are you comfortable with Linux? (i.e. do you know HOW to start a script or program if it's not in your path?)

Include as much detail as you think is needed to explain what you have been doing sofar.

I'm trying to install git 1.6 from sources.
I did this steps:
ssh
su root
wget http://kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/ ... 0.4.tar.gz
tar -vzxf
cd inside the newly created folder
make

I got command not found, so I did
apt-get install make
then make prefix=/usr/local all

Then I got curl-config error.
I've googled a while then I did a search inside my /usr/bin:
curl Is there but curl-config not.

I know I have libcurl3 installed properly.

I've tried adding etch sources in /etc/source.list then apt-get update.
Of course this was not so helpful.

So I issued apt-get install git-core and It went fine.
Actually I have a git 1.4 vers. working but some command Is a little different (i.e.: init-db instead of init) but It's not a problem.

Of course I would like to have a 1.6 git repository on my Bubba
that BTW Is a magic peace of HW !

As you understood I'm not so strong in Linux.

curl-config is provided by the libcurl3-openssl-dev package.
