Bubba Two DOA!

Post by moxieman »

I recently purchased a bubba two server which arrived this afternoon. Upon following the quick start instructions, I receive no LED light and cannot find the web server to do configuration.

I'm attempting to follow the reinstall instructions, but it is rather difficult without LED feedback, and no other feedback.

Any suggestions for troubleshooting? I am in Hawaii, and would rather not send it all the way back if I can avoid it.

Thanks for your help.

Still Dead

Post by moxieman »

I attempted to follow the reboot instructions, but with no feedback, there was no way to know if it worked or not. The LED still doesn't work. The hard drive feels like it's spinning up, and it heats up, but acts like the board itself is mostly dead. Any ethernet connection with the LAN port has packets sent from my laptop but not received from the unit. DHCP wouldn't work, so I statically assigned an IP address on the same subnet as the factory setting for the bubba two LAN interface.

I also sent an email to excito with no response yet (granted, they may have gone home for the weekend before seeing the email) but it will make me sad to wait the weekend, especially if I then have to mail it back.

Thoughts, anyone? Anyone else experience a similar issue?

Power Supply

Post by ewanp »

Just a thought, I see you are in the States, have you been supplied with a 220V or 120V power adapter? The standard here in Europe is 220V. If you are using a 220V adapter on a 120V mains system you may not be getting enough power to drive the Bubba.

The power adapter is a standard 12V-4W supply. It would be good to check if the problem is with the power adapter which you can do if you can find one with similar output.

Good Luck

We have now responded to your support ticket. Very sorry that you are having problems, we'll try to solve it as soon as we can.

Also: The power adapters we ship handle 110-240V, so this shouldn't be the problem in this case. Thanks though ewanp for helping out, much appreciated.

Power Supply

Post by moxieman »

As indicated by Johannes, the power supply included with the unit was appropriate for the region. 120-240 VAC, 50-60HZ, with wall adapter standard for North America. As suggested via email by Johannes, I will test it to ensure it is supplying the requisite 12V / 4A output.

Fixed!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I sent my Bubba Two back based on the DOA status the first time, and it just arrived again as good as new.

I am impressed by the customer service and the quick turnaround. Alas, the US Postal system held me up the first time.

The bottom line is, I received a DOA unit originally, confirmed by Johannes when he received it back. He replaced the board for me and shipped it back to me quickly.

Now, unfortunately, I'm leaving on vacation for a week, so I have to wait before I can play with it :(
