B2 as a wireless device

Post by Peter_Olofsson »

I've spent a lot of time this weeked trying to set my B2 up as a wireless device but no luck at all.

So far I've tried reinstalling it from scrath and applying all updates and then following the wiki on connecting a b3 as a wireless device but I just can't get it to work.

Code: Select all

iwlist scan
shows my unecrypted wireless network but i still can't get the B2 to connect no matter what options I try. This should indicate that something is working, right?

Currently my network is unencrypted to minimize any troubles but it seems to get stuck in retrieving an IP adress but no other devices have had any problems.

Any ideas what to steps to take next in my troubleshooting?

Best regards,
Peter

PS. My wireless card for my B2 was installed as part of the wireless beta program if that can have any part in my problems

did it work as it should as a wireless AP? Then the hardware should be OK at least..

Yes it did, at least when I used it last but it was quite some time ago.

Since the iwlist scan command correctly identifies my access point I assumed the hardware was working correctly, or how else would it be able to find this information?

Poor signal has been eliminated as a possible issue as well since I have relocated my B2 within a meter from my access point.

You are right, the hw is probably OK then. Did you try another AP? If you don't have one, perhaps you can try with a smartphone? I guess the software stack for device is not brand new and might have compatibility issues with some AP's, but this is just speculation.
