You mean Firefly, right? The version of Firefly that comes with recent versions of B3 software (forked-daapd) doesn't have the web interface anymore. The only point with that web interface was the button for force rescanning, and the rescanning works so good in forked-daapd that it isn't needed anymore...

So there's Fireplay and there's Firefly. Does the rescanning works automatically or do I need to force it?

No, it should do everything needed automatically without user intervention.
