[solved] problems with reinstall
[solved] problems with reinstall
I want to reinstall my b3. I followed the instructions in the manual. But it seems like the box is never booting from my usb-stick. I tried different sticks but it never worked. What can i do to properly reinstall my b3?

Re: problems with reinstall
this is a known annoyance. If you have a USB hard disk available, can you try that instead of the USB key?
Re: problems with reinstall
Thank you for your prompt answering.
I do have a USB drive with an ext4 partition. Do i have to reformat it to FAT32? Or does it work with only the install directory in the root folder?

Re: problems with reinstall
Use another USB-Stick or the second port for USB on b3.
I tried four different sticks. Only one worked.
This is something that occurs very often.

Re: problems with reinstall
I must disagree, this is not known for the B3 (however well known for the B2).
It must be a corrupt system somehow, perhaps bit error on the image on your USB stick?

Re: problems with reinstall
Thank you very much for encouraging me to try even more usb-sticks. I finally found one that worked. @Johannes: I doubt that it has been a bit error as it occured on several sticks. Maybe i should not have formatted them under linus
Re: [solved] problems with reinstall
Yes, formatting from Linux may prevent our boot loader to recognize them if you do it wrong, using the from-factory FAT formatting works most of the time with B2, and all the time with B3.
