[SOLVED] strong problems with wifi bubba

Post by matthew »

Hi,
firstly I have to excuse my not well trained english......

Since nearly 1,5 weeks I have the B3 Wifi and unfortunately the problems with transfering data between my MacbookPro and B3 killing my time and nerves... I neither have much experimented nor modified some critical files on my B3. It is nearly the standard-system, besides the install of mc and Apache-Tomcat.

I tried a lot, for example choosing different protocols:
  1. afp: often very slow (35-800 KB/s), sometimes satisfactory (2-8 MB/s); but it is not stable at all, i often get an error message like this: "The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -36.)
" and "connection lost to mybubba" --> ok, after a closer look in other forums, it can be a osx-configuration-problem
  2. smb: always slower than afp, but more stable
  3. ftp and ftps: stable, but the slowest
Furthermore of course I tried different wireless-configurations (5GHz don't work for me and I can't select 802.11n-only) and to change the position of B3 in my living-room, where the distance is around 3m between B3 and client. Here are not many (3-5) other wifi-networks, which could make such that trouble I have, so I think.

Transfering files wired produces a datarate of ~20-30 MB/s.

Is there somebody which has similar problems or solved such problems. How could I get this under control? Which datarate I could realisticly expect?

Thanks a lot Matthew

Sorry for opening a related thread, but I was not sure if that is the same problem, because I didn't know another version.

Seams you have faced the "wifi issue" which was talked earlier here in the forum. Try to switch to "legacy mode" of your b3 wifi.

Hope that helps

I really don't hope so... Yes, legacy-mode is more stable, but absolutely too slow, any other hints?

If you take a look at the last few posts of the thread I linked to earlier I have found that speeds on wifi return if I downgrade my B3 to a previous version or upgrade to the unstable version so the problem seems to be limited to the current release only. Maybe downgrading or upgrading is an option for you.
