Having huge problems with my b3 right now.
I can't connect to disks on it and can't retrieve web pages through it (as if DNS is faulty).
I don't know where to start so here's what happened:
* Everything worked well when I started work this morning.
* After a while I started getting problems connecting to web pages. already visited worked well, so it was as if DNS was starting to fail.
* I logged in to the b3 through the web interface (local url - b3.local/admin)
* At the front page there was some warnings about php5 issues, could not write to disk, said it was full.
I checked - disk is not full, I got about 1,1TB left on sda1
* Now I started to get issues with the b3 web interface, I couldnt switch to administration tabs etc.
* so, rebooted b3 through ssh
* now everything seemed to be working normal.
* I browsed around admin setup to see anything unusual. Backup had failed, checked backup usb-disk was offline.
*Hit connect on backup disk, after a while everything went down, couldnt connect to b3 though web interface.
*another reboot.
* still can't connect to web interface, tried via ip: 192.168.100.1/admin - worked! Hostname is still the same but I cant connect using it!
*Connected backup disk, this time it worked. Manually started backup, failed after a while with "Temp space has 1032192 available, backup needs approx 6815744." (Is this in Mb or bytes? How much space is actually missing? and where? is Temp space on backup disk or local disk?)
* I can't mount b3 server disks from other machines. I can connect to 192.168.100.1 though samba where I see home and storage folders but I can't reach them, says could not mount when trying to open them.
* Now I can't reach internet again.
* Another reboot, can't connext to b3, not even though ssh (no route to host)
* hard reboot, still no connection to b3, nor though cable (restarted switch also after which I get "Network is unreachable" instead of "no route..."), nor thuough wireless. Wireless network is showing up in list of networks but I cant connect to it.
*I can reach the b3 from external web url - myadress.myownb3.com/admin
Something is seriously wrong, what can it be?

Re: B3 connection error (can't reach b3 locally, nor interne
sda1 does NOT have 1,1TB left, /home has. /dev/sda1 is 9,9Gb and is 100% used.
(I found out I could ssh into my b3 from externally, thought I had that turned off...)
/var/log had grown to 6,5Gb!
Here's the largest ones:
3444 mail.info.2.gz
3444 mail.log.2.gz
22976 syslog.1
25060 syslog
35188 mail.warn
58204 mail.warn.1
67844 mail.info
67856 mail.log
112696 mail.info.1
112696 mail.log.1
5867204 backup/admin/WORK-backup
5867208 backup/admin
5867212 backup
Are those safe to delete? Also can I set a limit on the backup logs so they won't grow this huge?

Re: B3 connection error (can't reach b3 locally, nor interne
I deleted some backup logs so /dev/sda1 now has about 5Gb free.
Done a few reboots
I still can't connect to b3, network doesn't work, wire or wifi. Can connect from outside to b3 so it is alive.
What can I do to get my server back!?

Did a dist upgrade. Did not solve the problem...

You're not really explaining yourself very well. You can log on to it to reboot and do a dist-upgrade but you can't connect to it and the network doesn't work. Which is it? What is the problem exactly?
Re: B3 connection error (can't reach b3 locally, nor interne
I cannot connect to it though LAN or Wifi. (b3 is server + router + firewall)
I can connect to it remotely through the easyfind url. Both web ui (no admin access) and ssh.

OK. So are you trying to connect from the LAN via IP address or hostname? Whichever one you've tried, have you tried the other?d_rylndr wrote:I cannot connect to it though LAN or Wifi. (b3 is server + router + firewall)

Re: B3 connection error (can't reach b3 locally, nor interne
yes, tried both hostname and IP.
Problem is not file sharing, problem is that I can't get a network connection at all.
Wireless network is showing up by name in my list but I can't connect to it, wheel is spinning but no connection is made. Eventually attempt is dropped.
Wired network is also shown, auto eth0, but same thing there. My computers try to connect but nothing happens.
I have tried 3 machines: 2 stationary, wired and one laptop with both wifi and cable. Have restarted all of them, restarted switch, as well as B3. Also wired directly into B3s LAN, didn't work either.
Problem seems to be with B3s router functionality.

I did a reinstall which solved the issues.
