Drop ftd as BT client in favor of Transmission-daemon

Hi guys,

as transmission-daemon works almost "out of the box" on B3, why still keep that ugly ftd for torrents?

Transmission is kept up-to-date with modern protocol features like DHT, PEX, encryption and so on and gives better BT experience.

Genial RPC interface would allow great Web UI integration as well.

What would you think about it?

I run rTorrent atm on my B3 but Transmission sounds perfect . Go for it!

I use Transmission with RPC, Chrome extensions and so on on my B3. Works great.

Well, why not... I haven't tried transmission and ftd works well for me, but sometimes it's really a bit too simple, a bit more functionality wouldn't hurt.

I've been using transmission as a fall back in the rare cases a tracker didn't allow ftd. The only reason for not going all in on transmission is BubbaMon, my firefox add-on. There are probably similar add-ons for transmission, I just haven't bothered looking since ftd usually works well enough for me.

Haven't looked into Firefox addons, but the Transmission Chrome Extension is great.
Right click to add, small popup window with overview over downloading/seeding/completed files, bandwidth, easy removal and deletion of specific filesand so on.
I bet there's something similar for Firefox.

Plus the ability to set upload/download ratios, throttles, issue torrent completion scripts and other stuff within Transmission itself

For me, the best part of ftd is being able to add http downloads. Can you do that with Transmission?

+1 from me - I just installed Transmission on my B3 and it's just so much better.
Should not be difficult to add into the web interface, either, Transmission seems to have very good support for that kind of thing.

I AM serious. However you know the drill, we need to add it to our wanted features list and prioritize adn then implement, then test. It's not in 2.5 so earliest 2.6. Therefor no promises on release time / date etc. But it is on the list.

RandomUsername has valid point though. I don't think Transmission can handle FTP or HTTP downloads (at least it didn't last time I checked).

How feture rich is Transmission compared to rtorrent?

I like to have the ability for a torrent client monitoring an unlimited number of catalogs and download the file to corresponding catalog, i.e I don't want to have a general download folder.
