UpNP client?
UpNP client?
I don't know if this is the right place to ask
. I'm thinking about streaming movies on my home network via UPnP. What would be a good client for watching/ catching those streams when running Ubuntu/Debian?

Hi kitabu,
There is a lack of a good upnp renderer for Linux. Anyone know of them we would also like to hear about it. (We are also interested in what is available on Windows)
The "best" attempt this far on Linux is VLC,http://www.videolan.org/,. It can be compiled against Intels upnp libraries. And i have been able to list some directories exported by bubba but havnt been able to play any content

Hi kitabu,
I was also unsuccessful at getting VLC to work as a upnp client, but I have used djmount http://djmount.sourceforge.net/ and it works fine on Ubuntu.
You set up a mount point and then mount it with djmount. It will find upnp stuff on your network and it will be available as a file system under your mount point. You can then play the contents with your favorite media player.
Cheers
