Loosing connection from the Internet

Post by paapereira »

In the last days I'm having problems connecting via web to my b3, using the *.myownb3.com url.
When I get home I have to restart b3 to make it work again.

B3 is connected to my ISP router.

I'm not sure if the problem is in b3 or in my ISP router.

Can you recommend me some steps to try and find out? Some check to see if the problem is the router loosing Internet connection?

Either way it seems that when Internet is down and then up again, I can no longer connect to b3 without restarting.

Any suggestion are appreciated :D

This could be due to your ISP changing your external IP. B3 cannot (software 2.3.1.1) detect this through your router. From 2.4 and onwards this will be solved (B3 checking with your router for IP updates).

Possible solutions:
- use B3 as router instead
- instead of restarting, you can just pull the network cable for 20 seconds and then put it back again. This will also make B3 check status and update the easyfind service.

Hum. Ok. Was this an issue before 2.3.1.1?

And is there a ETA for 2.4? :D

Thanks for the reply.

No, this is a feature we have not had before, UPnP sensing of external IP through other routers (since best use case is to use B3 as router, then this is not needed). Feature added from 2.4.

I can't say ETA just yet, at least one month away, but we are working on it.

Ok, great. Just one more question. Is there a way to force the update? I could set up a cron job to run from time to time.
