mt-daapd (playing .flac in iTunes)

Post by yodanski »

Hi all,

I just found out about mt-daapd - very neat...
http://bubba.local:3689 (usr admin, passwd excito...)

I'm trying to configure it to convert .flac files to .wav
so iTunes plays them. I'm at the stage where iTunes sees
the files (and info shows they are .wav) but doesn't play them.

Important question : is Bubba fast enough to do this kind of work?

Cheers,

Dennis.

Well, turns out it works.

Kind of long to explain - let me know when you want to know how
I did it.

Perhaps a stupid question, but do you do the FLAC -> WAV converting on-the-fly, real time transcoding? Just curious on how CPU intensive that would be.

Hi,

Yes, and it works great.

I don't have the time to go into the details right now,
but Bubba does make a great machine for opening
up the closed system that is iTunes.

Cheers,

Dennis.

I would like to know. Just adding .flac to the config file does not seem to be enough.
