Horde calendar sync with Outlook?
I currently run 2 x Bubba 1's and am considering upgrading to the Bubba 3. I'm interested in the improved webmail interface and calendar avaliable via Horde which appears to include greater functionality than my old Ilohamail.
Can anyone tell me whether I can reliably sync Horde calendars on the Bubba 3 with Outlook 2010? The ability to sync my android 2.2 calendar would also be useful.... (don't trust the cloud and like my own hardware).
Thanks in advance for any help.
Regards,
Gavin.

Re: Horde calendar sync with Outlook?
you need to pay money to microsoft for this to work
Re: Horde calendar sync with Outlook?
Or use the free cloud tech you don't trust...
Re: Horde calendar sync with Outlook?
Yeah I suppose you can get Kronolith to sync remotely with google calendar (which has an activesync license) and then you connect outlook with google calendar as well. That could indeed work. Just don't put any emberrasing or illegal appointments in there...

Or we could all have tried google and find this:

Re: Horde calendar sync with Outlook?
I tried that on my last phone, and it was a no-go.
Mind you that was a year ago...
EDIT: It was a Sony Ericsson, can't remember the model number, I had to return it to my employer at the end of it's service life.
Then I bought an Android phone with my own money, because I was tired of the crappy hardware they gave us.

Re: Horde calendar sync with Outlook?
Ubi,
Thanks. I did Google but obviously not using the right search terms or hard enough.
I thought I'd ask the community as I don't want to invest in new hardware to get improved functionality that I thought would deliver but doesn't in reality - especially as my Bubba 1's are so reliable!

I wouldn't know what hardware could possibly solve this issue. If any NAS system can get it going it's bubba
Re: Horde calendar sync with Outlook?
It is not the hardware's fault that it is so hard to sync Horde with other things.
If you look at the proffered solutions, you are supposed to export stuff from Horde to files, and then load them into Gmail, or the other way around. And for Outlook you need yet another 3rd party solution.
I tried some of those things, but gave up. I use Evolution linked to my Gmail account, and my Android phone linked to my Gmail account.
I even found some software to sync my Gmail account to my Lotus Notes calender at work.
It works.
I tap an appointment into my phone, and I get reminders from my Ubuntu desktop, even if Evolution is not running.
I get reminders from my phone when I'm away from Lotus Notes.
But, it all relies on Google, so as that was your main problem (relying on such cloud services), I guess we cannot help you...
Horde is simply not up to the task.

Cheeseboy,
Thanks for sharing all your experience. If I remember you helped me with a fetchmail issue with my Bubba 1 a few years back so your input is much appreciated.
Regards,
Gavin.

Re: Horde calendar sync with Outlook?
I think the syncml protocol in Bubba's version of Horde is quite out of date. I never tried it with calendars, but contact syncing between Horde, iPhone and Thunderbird was a bit of a tight rope. I use Google as the basis for all my contact and calendar syncing now and I'm much happier.
