Notifications by mail
Hello,
Is it possible for excito to add a configurable notification by mail to a certain user:
1. errors that you as user should be aware of.
2. attack from the outside.
3. disk quote
4. RAID status
5 failure of backup
etc.

Re: Notifications by mail
why don't you people just install logwatch?

Hi Ubi,Ubi wrote:why don't you people just install logwatch?
I use logcheck myself.
Can you tell me how logwatch differs?
And please keep in mind that this is a thread for feature requests, so it means all the previous posters want it implemented by default and probably controllable from the web interface.
Cheers!
Re: Notifications by mail
fair enough. The problem with mail-reports is that in the absence of a valied recipient address the mail queue and with it the HD will fill up.
Re: Notifications by mail
Well it would have to be optional obviouslythe mail queue and with it the HD will fill up.

Now have you tried logcheck?
If so, what is your opinion compared to logwatch?
Re: Notifications by mail
no never tried, and I turned of logwatch, becasue I'm running about 12 servers and I cannot manage to read all the log digests. I've got everything I care about in Munin, which I find a lot easier to visualize. And if you need triggers there's cacti and nagios and such.
I think many people do not realize you really do get an email every day, and you need to read them every day with concentration and patience, or you may just as well not have them. My guess is that 99% of people who enable this feature will not use it for more than 6 weeks.

Haha! I think the default cron settings for logcheck where something like every two hoursI think many people do not realize you really do get an email every day

Re: Notifications by mail
you mean it gives you 12 mails per day? And you read all of them?
Re: Notifications by mail
No, I changed it of course!
Re: Notifications by mail
Hi all, and sorry for the late reply. We have this already on our to-do-list, but unfortunately it didn't fit into our next B3 release. However, hopefully for next release. We fully agree this would be a good feature.
