Default file and directory permissions?

Post by CrazyBubbaUser »

Being a newbie on Linux... I have been able to set wrong directory- and file permissions on my Bubba Two.

After that I was unable to for example start the Bubba Two web gui... :-(

I logged in via Putty and changed to root user and performed "chmod -Rv 777 /*"and then it works but I don't obiously want to keep these permissions... What chmod command should I run on my B2 to set EVERYTHING to it's default permissions?

EDIT:
I run "chmod -Rv 775 /*" and then I was still able to rung the webgui of B2. But is 775 the optimal permissions I should use?

Ouch! 755 is the default for most things but there are some things you only want root to have access too (permissions 700). If it's not too much hassle, I'd be inclined to reinstall my system after making such a massive, potentially serious, modification.

He, he... Yes I suspected that and will do a complete reinstall from the latest Bubba Two image...

Fortunately I didn't have too much data yet since my Bubba Two is quite new (eventhough I bought 6 months ago...)

That's lucky. In the future, I suggest you post any problems here before going ahead with something you're not too sure about.
