I have the exact same problem, not on a static IP though but using the Bubba as a firewall also so it gets the external IP that the ISP provides me.
The problem: When the Bubba has been turned off and i start it it wont start the Samba-share. I can either log in with SSH and start it via the terminal or i can log in on the web infterface and turn off "Windows file share", press Update then turn on "Windows file share" and press update. Then it works again.
This is extremely annoying and kind of defeats the purpose of having a NAS in my opinion.
I use both Macs and WIndows-machines at home and the AFP always works fine.

BUG REPORT: Samba wount start with static IP and no printing
Re: BUG REPORT: Samba wount start with static IP and no prin
Can someone from Excito please confirm this bug?
We now have a number of users experiencing the same issue. If neccessary I am willing to let someone from Excito connect remotely to my B2 if you cannot reproduce the problem locally.

Hello!
Me too, my only gripe i have with this otherwise excellent device (aside from an esata issue but which may be due to faulty cables...no time to check that
!)!
Thanks!

Time for Excito to wake up and at least comment the post? FP was in april.
Re: BUG REPORT: Samba wount start with static IP and no prin
I'd appricate an update to this problem from someone at EXCITO!
I realise this is not a critial problem, more of an annoyance, but even so it should not have dragged on for 6 months without a word from EXCITO on a possible solution.
Are we now to assume, that with the launch of BUBBA3 running Lenny, and the work being done to get BUBBA2 to run Lenny progressing, that no further update/fixes will be scheduled for BUBBA2 & Etch, and hence no solution to the current Samba problem.

Re: BUG REPORT: Samba wount start with static IP and no prin
In all fairness I'd rather have Excito spend their time getting B2 to Lenny than backporting this fix into Etch. But you may want to mail support@excito.com with your problem. The admins sometimes miss a few posts in the forum but generally respond quite rapidly to email
