Torrentclient

Post by sephirot »

Hi

The torrentclient on Bubba one was very slow, i only got ca 10-20kb/s dl speed with that. Is there any diffrence in Bubba Two tirent Client and can it handle logins at diffrent torrentsites?

I use TorrentFlux-b4rt. http://tf-b4rt.berlios.de/.
It's fairly easy to setup, if memory serves me.
Depending on which torrent client you want to use, TorrnentFlux-b4rt supports a number of different ones, you might have to install additional packages.
If you want to use BitTornado you need Python, for example.

You might also want to lookup Transmission. http://www.transmissionbt.com/.
I think a web interface is included. Last time I tested it I found it not suited for my needs, but it might suite yours...

Personally I use a patched Transmission as a backend with TorrentFlux-b4rt as frontend.
The reason for this setup is that I find Transmission a bit more light on resources and that one of my favorite torrent sites has banned BitTornado. Patches that makes TorrentFlux-b4rt "understand" Transmission in included in the TorrentFlux-b4rt archive. You do have to compile Transmission from sources though.

Ahh sorry, I missread your question somewhat...
I'm on a Bubba Two.
I haven't used the built-in torrent client that much, so I don't know if it's better or worse than on Bubba One.
However, using the software I mentioned in my previous post should be possible on Bubba One too...
Untested by me, though...

I'm pretty sure that says it just wants to install new packages and upgrade a couple of others yeah? It looks to me like saying Ja to that command wouldn't hurt at all. There don't seem to be any errors about broken dependencies or anything, correct me if I'm wrong.

What was it specifically that makes you worry about it?

To nerkes question, why to compile it from sources:
As you noticed yourself, you get a lot of dependencies to stuff that you really can't use or need.
The GTK libraries, for instance, are used for the Transmission GUI and that can't be used on the Bubba.

Not that it matters that much, it simply takes up disc space, but I try not to install things I don't need.

Furthermore, I needed to patch Transmission to fit Torrentflux, so I had no choice...

There is no wrong with the client within B2, thats just that i am used to Transmission and i got some things that i am used to use. For exemple i got a few diffrent desktops around that i use and i want to make my b2 download torrents from each of them. Thus i mount a /torrent folder with nfs from my b2 and Transmission starts to download and when my ratio is 3 it automagic stops seeding and moves the file to right folder (or is supposed to do it when i got things right). then transmission got blocklists and etc... and i like transmission. :) (exuse my bad english)
