I understand that the use of Linux on an ARM processor unit makes it unlikely to be affected by 99.9% of the viruses and malware that circulate on the Internet but, as the Bubba still can host files which can be downloaded onto a Windows PC, an infected file can still survive on Bubba only to create chaos at a later date.
Being somewhat paranoid about these things - or am I just careful - I am looking for an answer which will allow me to forget the problem.
Ideally I am thinking of a package which will live within Bubba, update itself and run periodic scans without human intervention. Does anyone have any experience of this or indeed any advice.
It has been suggested that I look at http://packages.debian.org/sarge/clamav though I don't yet know how far this meets the above criteria.
Has anyone tried this or anything else for that matter? I would very much like to learn from the experience of others.
with thanks,
Michael

ClamAV is a good antivirus solution. Many people use it on their mailserver to detect windows viruses. I use it to guard mail services for about 700 domains. It should be reasonably quick on bubba but not as fast as on your dual core Xeon server. It will eat resources just as it will when you're running it on your windows desktop.
As a side note: no software currently available is able to detect all malware. Forgetting about the problem is a bad idea no matter what kind of filter you install! So install clamav on bubba, but don't take the virusscanner from your client.
