Bubba and Kiss DP-600

Hello, first post here...

I own a Kiss DP-600 and would like to connect it to a Bubba Mini Server. But the Upnp-function is supposed to be limited on this player.

Has anyone tried the Kiss DP-600 with Bubba and got it to work, or do you think it should work?

It is quite easy to build kissd http://www.popies.net/kissd/index.html for bubba, and it it works great with my DP-1500. But I guess your 600 will not be able to use that server if it needs UPnP... :?

Supporting Kiss units sounds interesting. ringmod, it seems like kissd is discontinued. They link to this site, http://kissdx.vidartysse.net/ and they also mention the DP-600 even though i have not been able to find a list of supported devices.

If there is a good software for Kiss players out there we could provide a package for that making it easily installed on Bubba. So any input is apreciated ;)

Would be great to have in-built support for Kiss DP-600, then I would buy the Bubba server faster than you can say "s e x laxar i en laxask"...

Yes, kissdx is the way to go, but it also adds some dependencies which I have not dealt with yet. But I guess it should not be to much work to go from kissd to kissdx, if I would want the extra features it adds. Just to download some libs and maybe set some build flags...

Sounds interersting as said before. If we can find some time we will try to provide packages for this.

I offer eternal love for anyone that can convert this guide http://kissdx.vidartysse.net/debian-mini-howto.html into a "for dummies" guide so I can install kissdx on my bubba and get it running with my Kiss DP 1600 player.

I follow the instructions in the mini-howto. When I type 'make', I get the following error:

gcc -DLinux -DUSE_INTERNAL_SENDFILE -O2 -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_GNU_SOURCE -c -o kissdx.o kissdx.c
make: gcc: Command not found
make: *** [kissdx.o] Error 127

What's wrong?

Hi Filip and Xargon,

The problem you have is that you dont have any development tools installed on your Bubba.

Try install the package build-essential and try again.

Thank you tor!
That solved the problem!

This is absolutely the best feature with the Bubba so far! It's great!
