Hardware accelerated crypto

Yo!

I see you have a 2nd device under development, and I'd like to suggest a feature for it. How about adding crypto hardware?

It'd be great with acceleration for things like encrypted FTP, SFTP, even HTTPS downloads I guess :)

There is for example this framework called OCF-Linux (http://ocf-linux.sourceforge.net/) which could be helpful. According to their benchmarks, bulk crypto throughput is 7 times that of software crypto.

One of the supported processors:

If you are planning on adding WLAN support for upcoming revisions of Bubba, they most likely already have a IPSec core, which could be utilized for general purpose encryption.

Hi mange,

This is actually not a bad idea. Since most traffic should be encrypted, hardware support should definetly help boost performance in these scenarios. And we most likely will be able to do just that in the next hw version.
