Hi all,
Earlier I had a D-Link nas, unfortunately broken down (also disc contents) during my recent move. Bought the B3 from IBOOD. Only have the opportunity now to set it up. However, without success. It's connected to my Belgacom router/modem and that as far as I get.
I have a brand new WD green 2TB mounted in it. It keeps on blinking purple. No way to get to the b3 or b3.local or b3localdomain to get to the admin page. I have been searching rather intensively in this forum, but can't find the answer(s) to my problem, apart of that people returned their b3 to IBOOD.
I'm not technical at all, so would appreciate help and step by step instructions for dummies.

Unlike a regular NAS, the B3 firmware only functions as a boot manager for the actual system that resides on the internal disk. The disk you installed and therefore requires installation. From what I understand the Ibood versions where supposed to have a paper included that explains how to install that system, but I guess yours didn't?

In short you need a USB stick that can hold 1GB or more. There's no sense in using a really large one and in fact everything over 4GB will probably not do the job at all. Those swivel type sticks that many companies hand out for free for marketing are perfect. Next go to http://update.excito.net/install/latest/b3/ and unpack the zip file you find there on the USB stick. Reading the many issues that others appear to have with the install image, I suggest you do not use Windows Explorer for this but a dedicated archiver such as Winzip, Winrar or 7zip (if you're on Mac or Linux, your regular archiver will be fine).

Next put the stick in one of the USB ports of the B3 and hold the little power button on the back while you connect the power cord. The light on the front should turn green, at which point you can release the button. After some time, probably about 20-30 minutes the light should turn purple and a short time after become blue. If the light is blue then the system is up and running.
