Wifi Range Extender

Hi,
I try to set-up a TP-Link Wifi Range Extender (TL-WA850RE) but somehow I can't pass the B3. I have the following setup: Internet line – Router (wifi turned off) – Powerline – B3 as a server (wifi turned on). All other gadgets access the internet or B3 without any trouble. I also tried to turn the firewall settings on the B3 off but it didn't help. However, if I turn the B3's wifi off and turn the Router's wifi on, the RE works directly over the router as supposed. The RE has his own IP from the B3 but somehow it doesn't let it pass. Any idea? I am new to this network stuff.
Thanks

Hi mou,

Just a thought:
The product TL-WA850RE only seems to support 2.4Ghz.
Have you set up your B3 to use 5Ghz?

There are other things you can configure about the B3 WiFi in the web interface. Try to play around with them and see if it makes a difference.

If it still fails, look in /var/log/syslog for any entries from hostapd. Like this:

Code: Select all

Apr 28 19:33:53 b3 hostapd: wlan0: STA ...
...and see if there are any errors when you turn on the extender.

Cheers,
