IMAP performance using external router ip instead of bubbas

Hi,
when I try to save an attachment from a message from my IMAP client to my local disk, the data transfer rate is very slow when I use the dyndns service, that points to my external router IP (it saves me from changing the client config each time I'm switching from home to abroad). Then Rates vary from 25kb to 15kb/s ...
When I use bubbas internal IP adress, I get full performance...
So it looks like an issue with the router I have? How did you manage to have a configuration that works from both sides of the router, without changing settings?
