Hi,

I have a B3 off-site which I use for backup of the local data. It now looks like I have an issues with the HDD.

When logging into the web interface I get the following error

Code: Select all

A PHP Error was encountered
Severity: Warning
Message: session_start(): open(/var/lib/php5/sess_r52s5efhp6a4krmtv9l6qhqcg0, O_RDWR) failed: Read-only file system (30)
Filename: libraries/Session.php
Line Number: 143
If I ssh into it and execute

Code: Select all

shutdown -r now
I get the following error

Code: Select all

bash: /sbin/shutdown: Input/output error
Since it off site it is a bit cumbersome to manage and I would appreciate your advice if I first should try a reformat or if I should arrange for a new HDD at once.

Best Regards,
Morgan

I recommend you to checkout the Spinrite disk management tool at http://grc.com. It cost money though, but having the huge number of testimonials about it's superb disk recovery functions. I'm not a reseller, only a nerd that has watched the programmer himself, Steve G at Security Now podcasts at http://www.Twit.tv/sn every week the last year.
