Can't reach http://bubba

Hi,
I'm a new proud Bubba owner in need of some assistance. My Bubba has received the IP adress 192.168.0.11 from my router (D-Link DI-624) and I can get to the web-interface by browsing to that IP-adress in Internet Explorer. I see the name bubba in the DHCP list in the router but can't access it by browsing to http://bubba/ nor can I access it thru Windows Explorer ( \\bubba\ )

Now, I'm no network expert but I'm pretty sure it's my software firewall (Comodo Firewall Pro) that is causing the trouble since it seems to work just fine if I turn the firewall off. The question is what do I need to enable in the firewall to be able to access it?

TIA
/Henrik Olsson.

What operating system are you using ? On Linux and XP I was able to surf to http://bubba/ without problem. I have just upgraded to Vista and my laptop can now only access Bubba by surfing to the IP address and not the host name. My Linux box and Router both pick up Bubba's hostname but not Vista.

There are alot of strange things with Vista though, although Bubba works great with MediaCentre !

Hi,
Sorry, should've mentioned that. I'm using XP SP2.

Do you use any kind of firewall on the Vista machine? I guess Vista has one built in...could you try turning that off and see if you can access it by its name?

Thanks!

Hi henrol,

Not being able to control it right now. But try to open the ports 137,138 and 139 both TCP and UDP and see if that works. (if it doesn't, dont forget to close them again ;) )

(Bubba uses Samba/CIFS to announce it self in a Windows environment. And this should be the ports that is used for this.)

Tor,
Opened TCP/UDP trafic to and from Bubbas IP at those ports and now it works. Thank you!
