Hi, i got some problems and questions about B3 i hope someone can help me with. I use B3 as router + firewall + server with one computer connected via cable and phones and ipad by wifi. I have had theese listed problems since september last year but i havent got the energy to deal with it.

1. I have somehow created an account on it and forgot the password so i dont have any access to the "Downloads" and also the update doesent work, it just says "Cannot connect to the updater daemon"

I have tried to reinstall the software on it, but it doesnt seems to work. I have formatted and created a partition table using BOOTICE and extracted the downloaded software on it and also followed the instructions in the pdf user manual. B3 turns green, purlple and finally blue but it havent been formatted. I am now trying to extract the bubbaroot.tar file which is in the payload folder, i dont think thats necessary because the manual doesnt mention it but i dont know what else to do. i've read something about Log on to the shell via ssh and become root but i dont know how to do it.

2. I cant either reach the B3 by writing http://b3 why? Have recently noticed i can by writing the ip address but i could reach it earlier with typing just b3.

3. How about the xbox360 support? I havent got it working.

4. I had an Lexmark E120 printer connected to the B3 earlier but it didnt work satisfactually, sometimes it printed right away but sometimes nothing happened. Is it possibly to send printerwork from ipad or android phone? Perhaps a stupid question but i gotta ask.

5. Internet "crashes" sometimes or atleast once a week, not a big problem really since it's just to troubleshoot problem in Windows but i had a Asus N-16 router earlier and i got 1 crash in the 10 month i had it so i think its very annoying and disturbing whats going on now.

6. i think it is kinda slow in the internet connection, i got 100/100mbit but it was a noticible downstep from the N-16 router in both lan and wan connection.

For last i am greatly disappointed in this product, the features says NO TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED but i disagree. Apple producs doesnt demands any technical skills and i thought this was something simular but obviously not. I had an Xtreamer Pro earlier but got tired reading forum threads just to get it working and the interface was beneath contempt. I want a product that just does it's work and dont demands me to tell it what to do. I dont enjoy spending my time in solving problems that i think shouldt exist.

Well I've found that I get to bite the bitter pill so now i'm here and trying to solve the problems i got so if someone helpful can help me I am greatful.

Could you try to be more specific about the problems you want to get help for? I don't really understand what even a single one of the problems you mention is about.

Hello again, i know it's a late update but i havent had time to approch this problem for some time but i need it to work now since i want to load my Excito with movies to connect it with my new Boxee. Maybe i thought someone could help me without beeing so specific but since i have to i will.

And please read my previous post if something seems unclear.

Q1: How do i reinstall the software on the Excito? And if the usb rooting doesnt work how do i become root via ssh? Yes i have tried google
Q2: Why cant i reach the B3 by just typing in "b3" in the internet browser search field? I could earlier but now i cant.
Q3: Does Excito B3 have Xbox 360 support?
Q4: Why is it a delay with the printer when it is connected to the B3? And is B3 supporting printing from Ipad?
Q5 & Q6 : Well here i didnt really have a question, just complaining about the internet crashes on B3 and the slower connection i have noticed so i can give you that one Binkem. But i wonder if i can improve performance in some way?

Hi Jommel,

1. If you want to reinstall your B3 download the image from the excito website onto a usb stick. There are detailed instructions in the wiki site about how to do this. Please note that if you use the standard image it will reformat your data partition, erasing all data. After that you will have to recreate any users you previously had, but if you use an username still excisting on the data partition these will be coupled.

2. I don't know why it does this and I cannot help you without more detailed information. I think though that reinstalling your B3 will solve this problem.

3. I don't know about this you could try searching the forum. There are some troubles with communication between B3 and Xbox, mainly because Xbox (being a microsoft product) does have its own non-standard protocols.

4. I don't know this try searching the forums or maybe someone else can help.

Sorry I didn't notice your last posting. This was posted during holidays. I would have replied earlier otherwise. I you have problems with your B3 you might also try mailing [email protected].
Lastly I'm just another Excito customer doing this in his spare time.

Regarding XBOX360 the simple answer is yes, it is supported through our DLNA server, which works fine. (We have one in office as part of our release testing).

Yes, printing from iPad (AirPrint) is supported since our 2.5 release.
