Need help with reinstall

I seem to have buggered up my B3. In order to get squeezebox center working I deleted it, and reinstalled it.
Unfortunately, now my B3 is unreachable, so I fear I have to reinstall.
I have a couple of questions:
- When booting from the USB boot stick the led turns green, but what IP number is given to it in rescue mode?
Or is it using DHCP.
- Is there any way of reinstalling without formatting and erasing the /home partition, this contains my mail, pictures and music. I have configured it in RAID 1, so I have another disk with the image. But what is the quickest way to get it going again?
Thanks,
Albert

Not wanting to sound difficult, but your questions have been answered numerous times in this forum and in the manual.
To get you started:
When booting from the USB boot stick the led turns green, but what IP number is given to it in rescue mode?
Or is it using DHCP.
I think it will default to 192.168.10.1
Is there any way of reinstalling without formatting and erasing the /home partition, this contains my mail, pictures and music. I have configured it in RAID 1, so I have another disk with the image. But what is the quickest way to get it going again?
Take a look at the config file in the installer image.

Hi thanks,
got it all set and done. My problem, my DHCP server gave out the IP nr to the LAN port (MAC address configured), but of course when booting in rescue mode you use the WAN port.
Anyway, I could't find a problem in the logs, so I did a reinitialize without changing the partition table and not formatting the disks. However, this seems to take ages (500 GB disk already one hour busy) so I think I need to do a cold re-initialize.
Question to Excito:
Since I have the mirror of the data partition, is it easy to reinitialize bubba3 and then remirror back the original data?

I'm not an excito employee, but from my experience I'd say yes, assuming you did not customize the B3 or mess with anything outside the home mount.

I would say so too, what's the use of having a RAID1 if you can't use it in case of disaster.
Luckily the setup was stock, with a few tiny tweaks, but nothing particular and the mirror was created as stock.
So it boils down to: If I had a catastrophic disaster with the B3, and need to replace or reinstall, how do I get the data on the remaining mirror back.
Nice one for in the wiki.

As it turns out it was easier than expected.
When you reinstall the B3 it creates a new partition for /home on the internal disk.
Recovering your data from the mirror disk turned out to be simple, just click in the disk part of the webinterface (Disk/RAID) on Recover RAID array. It then asks where the original data is (in my case on the external disk, /dev/sdc1) and then initializing the internal /home partition (/dev/sda2) and add it to the RAID set (/dev/md0).
I had expected to do things by hand (and be carefull not to make an error and loose data) but you can recover the data simple this way. Forgot to say that I had made a settings backup previously as well. It took me a bit longer because I was reluctant in just clicking the buttons on the webinterface.
Maybe something for Excito to add an extra chapter in the manual about how to recover your data when you're using a mirror.
All's well that ends well,
Albert
