"Bubba root" doesn't appear in rescue system

Hej,

I urgently need help ! I was trying to make my epson scanner work, with the following tutorial (http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php?t=1598), but after I created /etc/udev/libsane-extras.rules I rebooted, and from that moment it was not possible to reach bubba from ssh.

I found that the file /etc/udev/libsane-extras.rules may create some problems, so I think it's the reason why my bubba 3 has stopped woking.

See:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/202743
http://old.nabble.com/Bug-457982%3A-lib ... 16425.html

But of course it may be an other reason.

My first (bad) action was to take out the hard disk and try to mount "Bubba root" on my laptop, as an external hard drive (at that moment I had forgoten the usb recovery stick). My goal was to delete the previously mentioned /etc/udev/libsane-extras.rules. Unfortunately I was unable to mount it.

I put the hard disk back in B3, and used then the rescue system, which is working normally. I followed the steps of the wiki (http://wiki.excito.org/wiki/index.php/Rescue_System) but something goes wrong: I don't have any hard disk to mount, only the usb disk.

This is what I have in /dev

and sda1 is my usb stick, when I mount it I see only the folder install.

I think it may also be interesting to know that I use two disks of 2TB on my bubba, in raid1, but I have disconnected the second (external) one to do these operations.

Any idea how I can mount "Bubba root" and try to delete the file ? Do you think it was a big mistake to try to mount "Bubba root" on my laptop ?

I don't think that the hard drive crashed, but I don't have any proof of that.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Vincent

Unless I'm gravely mistaken, /dev/md0 is your drive. As you said yourself, the thing was in raid1, and this setting is saved in the partition type. So you can mount the md0 just like it is an ext2 drive.

edit: what OS was on the computer when you hooked the drive to it? It has no effect of whether or not the B3 sees the drive by the way.

edit2: although md0 may be the correct disk, you should still be able to see the separate sd* drives, so something is funny at least.

The OS I tried to mount on was Lucid.

I already tried to mount on /dev/md0 in the rescue system, but it was not working.

When I unplugged the USB stick and let B3 boot normally, the led is blinking, so I guess it has something to do with a filesystem corruption. This may explain why he don't want to mount /dev/md0

These are, from my point of view, the events leading to that point:

1-I modify the file
2-Bubba reboot, I can't access to B3 from SSH but it has completely launched (no blinking, blue led)
3-I tried to stop it, rebooted it, unpluged the power
4-This last action caused a filesystem corruption
5-When I tried to mount it on my laptop, not working because of this filesystem corruption
6-Because of the filesystem corruption, the rescue system can't read the partition

The only solution appears to reinstall the system. Hopefully, thanks to the raid system, I still have my data. I will use a software like testdisk to backup important files (scripts ...) which were on the partition Bubba Root.

If you have any other idea, please feel free to tell me ! And thanks anyway !
