problem with music

Hello

I have a problem with my B3.

When I login too the B3 through the web interface and press the music button the fireplay v0.91 by Bo Mellberg comes up. But all I get is the statement Connecting to http://b3/music.
Nothing happens and I have left the fireplay web page on for several minutes. This used to take only one or two seconds before. In iTunes i have lost the connection too the music. It used to connect automatic too the music on the B3. This is the case with both the windows 7 laptop and the Macbook 10.6.6.

I have tried too switch off all services and then press update and then press restart and after the B3 is up and running again I have switch on all services and then press update and then press restart. This doesn´t help. Before this problem I used too have all the services enabled.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think there is a problem with the DAAP protocol.

What can I do too sole this?

P.S. Everything else seems too work, SMB, AFP, UPNP, bittorent, wifi, printing D.S.

Best Regards
Jon

Can you connect to the DAAPD server? This is found on

http://bubba:3689

If you cannot connect it may be that the server is down. You might try to restart the server using ssh (Putty)

Hi

Nothing happens when I wrote http://bubba:3689 and pressed enter in the location bar, Firefox.

I know how to login in too the B3 through shh (putty) but what is the command to restart the DAAPD server?

Thanks for your help

try:

/etc/init.d/mt-daapd restart

but I suspect this may not work. It is good though to know what the result is.

I used ssh (putty) and in root I wrote /etc/init.d/mt-daapd restart and I got the following;

Stopping mt-daapd: mt-daapd.
Ok, all clear.
Starting mt-daapd: mt-daapd.

Both iTunes and fireplay v0.91 by Bo Mellberg can´t access the music.

I guess mt-daapd is still not accessible as bubba:3689
try typing ps -A using ssh to see if mt-daapd runs (i guess it does)
There might be something wrong with mt-daapd.conf I don't know if you have recently updated your Bubba or modified your conf file?

It seems that Firefly doesn't start, at least it is not running om your B3. I'm not really a linux expert so I hope someone with some more knowledge on this forum is able to sort this out for you.

Hi,

Instead of using the service script (which redirect output to /dev/null), try start it manually from command line. As root, issue:

Code: Select all

/usr/sbin/mt-daapd -f -d 1

This will run the program in the foreground, using debug level one. Examine the output, and if this doesn't tell you anything try increasing the debug level. There are 9 levels, but beware, the highest level is very verbose so you may need to redirect the output to a file. If the error doesn't make the program stop, use CTRL-C.

/Johan

Hi

I used ssh and in root I wrote /usr/sbin/mt-daapd -f -d 1 and I recieved this reply:

Code: Select all

root@b3:/home/jon# /usr/sbin/mt-daapd -f -d 1
Firefly Version svn-1696: Starting with debuglevel 1

Plugin loaded: rsp/svn-1696
Starting signal handler

Client running
Initializing database

Error: database disk image is malformed

root@b3:/home/jon#
I tried /usr/sbin/mt-daapd -f -d 1 too /usr/sbin/mt-daapd -f -d 4 with the same reply as above.

But I got this reply for /usr/sbin/mt-daapd -f -d 5 too /usr/sbin/mt-daapd -f -d 8:

Code: Select all

To me it seems that some files are damaged or missing. What can I do now?

In /var/cache/mt-daapd there is a file called songs3.db
it may be corrupt. You might try renaming this file (to keep it in case this doesn't solve the problem) and then starting mt-daapd again. It should rebuild the database. Hopefully this may do the trick.

Hi

With ssh and in root I wrote
cd /var/cache/mt-daapd
and to see if the file where there I wrote dir and there was the file songs3.db
I wrote mv songs3.db oldsongs3.db and it changed name.
I restarted DAPPD server with /etc/init.d/mt-daapd restart and then I exited ssh. The B3 started to make alot off noise and after a couple of minutes it went silent and I started iTunes and firefly on b3 showed.

I am happy again

Thanks for all the help, it meant alot

Jon
