I am wondering how big a disaster it would result in on my B3 if I prioritized the real upstream squeeze repository instead of Excito's snapshot copy of it? They are essentially the same, aren't they? I mean in the sense that they contain the same files, only fresher in the debian.org archive. Or does the repository "deb http://b3.update.excito.org/ upstream_squeeze main" contain modifications by Excito?
The reason I am asking is that the Excito snapshot feels "so last season" and contains broken package dependencies.

Using the real upstream instead of Excito's stale upstream?
Re: Using the real upstream instead of Excito's stale upstre
I use the non-excito packages often, never really found a problem. Worst case is it won't run, or the installer won't install because of dependencies. ANd then you de-install and take the older stable version instead.
So there is a risk, but it's minimal. It's not like your running a bank or something is it?

As someone who works in the financial sector I can safely say a Bubba server (whatever model) is far too advanced to be used in a bank.Ubi wrote:It's not like your running a bank or something is it?
