Hard reset B3?

I use the B3 as a wireless router, and I did some changes in the networksettings and now there“s no way to access it! Even if i connect with cable through the LAN-port it just refuses to give an IP.
How do I perform a hard reset of the device?
I have tons of stuff stored on the harddrive - how do I save it from getting erased in the event of a reinstall of the software?

I think you should be able to do an rescue boot with the USB install image. There is an good explanation on how to do this in the Bubba 2 manual and since B3 is mostly an Hardware upgrade from Bubba 2. Here is the manual http://download.excito.net/web/BubbaTwo ... index.html. There does not seems to exist such an manual for the B3 yet. You find the information under the section "INSTALLING & REINSTALLING SOFTWARE" just be sure you download the image for B3 and not the one for B2 that the documentation points to. Since i only own an Bubba 2 I am not sure this will work on an B3 so you might want to send an email to the excito support [email protected] they are usually quick to respond.

I tried the rescue procedure described for the B2. I'm not really shure if it worked. The manual says the USB stick must have a partition table. How do I check this?
The LED blink pattern does not seem to be the same for the B3 so I'm not shure if I managed to boot it from the USB stick or if it used the HDD.
However, I managed to log on through WAN using the default password. So now I'm copying everyting to an external hard drive. Will do a full reset later.

Excito people, better documentation, manuals, how to's etc. for you product, please!

Tronhog, Ryz,
Correct that the Bubba|2 info is the best we have for the moment. Sorry about that. We are working on a B3 manual as we speak.

In the mean time...
You find how-tos here: http://wiki.excito.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
The Bubba|2 manual you already have found, http://download.excito.net/web/BubbaTwo ... index.html.

It may still be possible to connect to the Bubba is you set your computer to a fixed IP-adress, if you know what IP-range your bubba uses (eg. 192.168.x.y). If you know the X you may choose any Y value except for the IP-adress of your bubba. It's worth a try before you try to reinstall.

ryz is not talking about a re-install but of a rescue. Not the same thing.

If you want to rescue: take an empty USB drive. If you're not sure about the presence of a filesystem, just format the usb stick from within windows.
Now just copy the rescue image onto the USB disk
Enter USB disk in bubba and start it up while pressing the button. It's really not difficult

Mind you the rescue is not a magical fixing tool. It just enables you to log onto your bubba and correct mistakes. Merely starting up from the USB disk will not solve your problem

When I reloaded my B3, I had the same problems trying to understand the LED patterns as they didn't seem to conform to the Bubba|2 user guide. It took me a while to realise that the blinking LED is actually the red one inside at the back. It is just visible through the USB slots. Wait until this flashes at 4Hz and then release the reset button (with the USB stick in). The front LED will remain green throughout this process.

Short LED info..

No light - power off
Blue - B3 active
Green - programming in progress
Purple - Booting or shutting down
Red - error indication (missing RAID disc etc)

We placed the hard drive activity LED visible through the kensington lock slot. If you have an eSATA drive you are able to see that discs activity led inside B3 as well, that LED is green.
