Unable to connect to Bubba

I am looking for some advice on troubleshooting my new Bubba2.
I have connected the Bubba in both the recommended configurations with the Bubba in "Server Only" mode inside my existing router and also with the Bubba connected to the Internet via the WAN port and the router connected to the LAN port with the router's DHCP etc disabled.
A cannot "see" the Bubba in either configuration.
The DHCP client list on the Router when accessed via its web interface shows no entry for the Bubba.
Nether can I ping or browse to 192.168.10.1. I'm not sure if this would be possible with my current router as the net mask is 255.255.255.0 and it will not let me change the third number of the mask...
Finally I abandoned the router and connected the Bubba to the internet via the WAN port and connected my laptop directly to the Bubba using the provided patch cable.
The laptop did not get a network connection to the Bubba using an "auto eth0" connection set up for DHCP.
I set up a manual connection with an ip in the same range as the Bubba fallback (192.168.10.99) and the laptop told me that the "wired connection" was established but I still could not ping 192.168.10.1, nor could I browse to it, nor access the internet.
I am running out of things to try so any troubleshooting tips would be appreciated.
It is worth mentioning that the blue light flashes and then stops flashing and the green light lights up on the WAN/LAN ports (the LAN port tends to glow continuously rather than flickering...)
Not sure what else I can tell you!
Thanks
George
