Hello All,
I am looking for soemone that has some experience with cups.
I have a printer connected to my B2, and works ofcourse perfect. My daughter studies and lives a somewhere else. I would like to grant her access to my printer over internet.
What i did already open port 631 to the outer world. Added an Allow rule (Allow <daughters-IP>)
to the cupsd.conf file. My dauhters IP is textual: name.mydomain.nl
Windows XP and Vista are unable to see this printer.

Hi,
Just a couple of ideas,
Windows will only be able to find printers automatically if they are on the local network. To share it over the internet your daughter would have to enter the network address of the printer manually. Something like
'Add printer' -> 'Network' -> 'URL' http://<your ip address>:631/printers/DeskJet-1234
The printer name above is the same as it appears on the CUPS config page, or the bubba printer config page.
If you don't have a static IP address then using DynDNS or bubba's 'Easyfind' service will give you a permanent internet address.

oh, just one other thing. The cups configuration web page (
http://bubba:631 ) will be accessible to anyone over the internet. This may present a security consideration, I don't know. At least I wouldn't do this if you have not changed the root password from 'excito' (though I assume you have!)
