Just like Google Desktop Search, by indexing all files on Bubba makes it possible to perform super quick search queries...

Hi tojacob,
This is an interesting feature that we actually have thought of. There is however one "small" problem with most solutions that we have looked into. And that is how to efficiently provide a secure search for all users.
It would be quite easy to add an indexer for the public storage and thus give easy access to content there. But the problem arise when one wants to index the different user folders. No indexer that i'm aware of is capable of keeping track of permissions of files in the index. Ie say not to give search hits for another users private folder.
The easy solution here would be to launch one indexer per user and store their index local to them. This however is a bit tough to squeeze into Bubba|TWO with limited memory and resources.
I would gladly appreciate feedback on possible ways to solve this
Our top candidate to use for now is tracker,
http://projects.gnome.org/tracker/ that is, at least said, to be resource efficient.
