connect via serial console

Hello!
I am looking for a way to connect to my bubba two using a serial interface.
I have searched the forum and google all day without luck so now I'm asking for help.
The only thing I found was this post http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php?t=460 but it seems that the solution is no longer available on the forum.
What I am trying to accomplish is to connect from my laptop to my bubba two via an serial console using minicom or getty and from there perform a headless installation. I want to try installing different linux distros and FreeBSD on my bubba two.
My question is what kind of cable do I need? (note. My laptop only has a USB port).
Can I use a USB to USB linkcable/switchcable or do I need a USB to USB nullmodem cable? http://www.ftdichip.com/Products/Evalua ... lModem.htm
