DNS or NetBIOS problem

Hi, this question might not be specific to Bubba, but I hope someone can help me out. I have two Windows XP PCs in my home LAN, plus my Bubba II.
On PC1, I cannot ping bubba, but I can ping bubba.localdomain.
On PC2, I can ping bubba, but in the output of the ping.exe program it translates the hostname to bubba.localdomain.
On PC1, I can ping PC2 (no pc2.localdomain construct is needed).
What is going on here?
Something changed recently which caused this. Unfortunately it is messing up the iTunes library which I have set up on bubba. I would like to change this back so that I can access the bubba simply as bubba.
Can someone help?
