Here's something that might be useful:

It basically lets you point Bubba at a Google Calendar account and use that to drive console commands.
So if you wanted to schedule a download, just add a Google Calendar entry along the lines of wget stuff, and Bubba will shcedule the download for that time.
Certainly doesn't do anything remote shell and cron can't, but might provide a friendlier front end for controlling Bubba remotely.
