Solution to hot Bubba

Living in Asia where that ambient temperature is around 30 to 35 degrees I have been concerned about the temperature of my Bubba. Running

Code: Select all

 hddtemp /dev/hda
revealed that the temperature was around 52 degrees when idle. Partly due to being housed in a cupboard with the router, NAS and cable modem.

I have now sat the Bubba on a USB laptop cooling fan and the temperature has dropped a few degrees. May not be a great drop [and may need a little tweeking to reduce it a little further] but I do feel happier with a temperature less than 50.

Update.

By jacking the Bubba up with a coin at each corner [to increase air flow] I have managed to lower the idle temperature by 7 degrees to 45. As this is about 10 degrees about the ambient temperature I do not think I will get much better that this and the Bubba does not feel too hot when touched.
